An Enjoyable Pizza Gathering with Extra Toppings
In 2020 Andrea and Jim Cribb settled on some rural property in Nanoose Bay on central Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and set about building a wood-fired oven covered by a pavilion. Since then, with the oven up and running, a variety of home-bakers has gathered weekly at 11 a.m. with family, friends, and neighbours for a Saturday Community Bake. Breads and other goodies are popped into the oven, to be enjoyed on the spot or taken away to share with others or consume at home.
On the second Sunday of every month we also have warm, welcoming, evening get-togethers with the wood-fired oven ready to bake pizzas. After the meal, time is devoted to spiritual explorations of a theme: the content is as varied as those who participate. As with the Saturday Community Bake, there is no charge to attend the Soul Pizza evenings nor do we expect anything in return. It is our pleasure, and another small way to help build community.
